Join Decipher (A DeSimone Company) along with Essex Court Chambers as part of London International Disputes Week (LIDW). The team will present an examination of tall buildings, information management and the response from the UK and around the world to the events at Grenfell Tower, the subsequent inquiry and legislation. The session takes place at the International Dispute Resolution Centre in London on 5th June at 11am.
Opening: An introduction from Paul Gibbons will be open to a brief keynote session from Richard Millett KC. Richard will set the context and how the UK / World has reached the point it has.
Panels: Join a structured Q&A with audience participation. Join a selection of panel discussions in which leading speakers from the UK and worldwide will examine:
- The current UK position and impact of legislation (including a look at the impact of the recent Gateway 2 delays), with perspectives from architects, contractors, and legal experts.
- The international reaction and perspective – has the UK influenced change elsewhere and/or how have things changed on tall buildings, particularly with reference to the Middle East and the USA
- Debate: Have the UK inquiry, recommendations and associated legislation gone too far? Is the focus of the legislation and regulation right? Has it had an unnecessarily negative impact on the industry? Perspectives from Richard Millett KC and industry experts.
- The likely impact on Disputes: The importance of records, the Golden Thread, and related themes. Is there such a thing as too much information? Will BIM and technology help? Will delay caused by new rules and changes in law be something that can be claimed?
